‘Safe Passage’ to vie at CinemadaMare filmfest

Iranian documentary to screen at 16th CinemadaMare festival in Italy.

Iranian documentary ‘Safe Passage’ is set to vie at the 16th CinemadaMare festival in Italy.

Directed by Payam Parsafar, and produced by Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), the documentary will participate at the competition section of the event.

‘Safe Passage’ is about the war zones of Iran-Iraq war especially Shalamcheh, a small town located in Khuzestan Province situated on the border with Iraq.

Part of the festival’s official website describes the event as follows:

The biggest gathering of young filmmakers in the world, an international travelling movie Campus and a production centre addressed to filmmakers, students and professionals of movie industry. Each year, 300 participants come from more than 65 countries of the world and they work together during each stage of a film production: script development, location scouting, filming and editing.

Since 2003, it runs through Italy during the summer. It starts in Rome at the end of June and finishes in Venice at the end of the Venice International Film Festival, during which CinemadaMare is present with the young participants of the Campus.

The maximum duration for competing films is 25 minutes in the upcoming edition of the event.

‘Safe Passage’ will go on the silver screen at the main competition section of the Italian film festival, which is slated for July 9 to 18, in Potenza, Italy.
